Why Invest in Silver?

For the people who are beginning to invest in silver they might ask themselves how this works?  Silver is a soft, shiny, precious metal and commodity that is used for many different uses such as photography, high end mirrors, conducting electricity, medicine, hospitals, jewelry, coins, etc.  So, silver is always in high demand due to these different uses that it has; it serves as a LONG TERM INVESTMENT. Investing in silver is like any other asset class, meaning that it carries risk, but risk can be minimized by investing for the long term, following the fundementals, meaning not speculating.

Investing in silver can be in many different ways which are buying and holding the physical metal itself, investing in silver etfs (Exchange Traded Fund) , picking  out silver mining company stock, and etc. Thecoinaddict.com will only be focusing on physical silver only.  Being said holding the physical precious metal brings relief to investors because of one; liquidity. You can exchange it for cash anywhere when times are tough or time to cash out on your investment. Also, holding physical silver provides relief to the investor as it will always be there not such as other asset classes such as equities and bonds were an investor can lose it all. Its like comparing a fruit with this precious metal, fruit will rought and silver will not. Silver price is decided on the open market meaning the price fluctuates up and down. Silver tends to be low when the Economy is doing good because investors do not feel the need of holding it until there is uncertainty and investors feel panic; they resort to the save??? heaven metal. What does this mean to long term silver investors? This means that silver is a great investment to hold during any period because it provides an affordable way for the common person to put money away for many different goals they have set up.

Gold another precious metal that everybody knows about, but time and time again silver has outperformed gold. Meaning that there is more money to be made with silver. Take this in mind,  Warren Buffet, known as one of the most successful billionare investors and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, at one point his company owned millions of ounces in silver and in one interview he was asked about precious metal and he never said anything bad about silver. He did, however mention gold, “Gold gets dug out of the ground in Africa, or someplace. Then we melt it down, dig another hole, bury it again and pay people to stand around guarding it. It has no utility. Anyone watching from Mars would be scratching their head.”  Thecoinaddict.com will only focus on silver.

So how do you actually put your money to work in Silver?

Well silver can be bought in coins, and bars on this website. There is regular bullion coins, which are just for it's silver content and produced by a private mint, which have a cheaper premium. Now, there is also government issue coins such as American Silver Eagle, Philharmonics, Maple Leafs, and so on. These coins have a higher premium. It all depends on the investor. Also, junk silver which is 90% silver is another great type of way to invest in silver this is all pre us coinage of dimes, quarters, half dollars, and dollar coins from 1964 and down.
